The Youth Nautical Education Foundation (YNEF) continues to sponsor major regional or national events in partnership with Yacht Clubs in Metro Detroit providing an outstanding opportunity for local area sailors to compete locally on a regional or national level.

YNEF has sponsored the following events drawing national and international youth sailing competitors into the Detroit area:

• USODA Optimist National Championships

• US Sailing National Youth Champs

• USODA Opti North American Championships

• Great Lakes J70 Championships

• Junior Olympic Regional Sailing Festival

• Lightning National Champs (PYC)

• USODA Optimist National Championships

• 420 North American Champs

In addition to our National event sponsorship, YNEF hosts numerous Clinics which feature elite coaches for advance training and instruction. We also sponsor numerous local and regional High School Varsity invitational and championship regattas to support MISSA, the Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association.
